I started Bold New Girls because I was working wit

I started Bold New Girls because I was working with so many girls who were so sparkly and bright, brimming with confidence and self-esteem and a carefree attitude until something happened…they started growing up, becoming more aware of what others thought of them and changing to fit in, while feeling the pressure to be who they thought they “should” be. It was difficult to watch yet in these experiences I knew I could help. I had experienced this too, after all, trading in my authentic self for this persona of being perfect and shy and good!

I love working with girls and seeing them for who they are, accepting all of what they show me, and encouraging them to embrace their true selves as they change and grow and become and be more confident and powerful!

I can’t believe it’s been 12 years!!! 3 books, 15 e-books, countless workshops and presentations later and I am going to keep going! Thank you for all your support and encouragement on my journey as a girl champion and an entrepreneur! 🩷❤️

Super Girl Syndrome is what I call the pressure fo

Super Girl Syndrome is what I call the pressure for growing girls to be all things to all people, all the time. Do you have a Super Girl? Here are some of the indicators:

A Super Girl can be:

🌺Good at everything; never needing anything
🌺Polished, pleasing, placating, and perfect
🌺very responsible and reasonable
🌺Striving without apparent struggle
🌺Trying without prioritizing rest
🌺Self-critical with impossible self standards
🌺Caring for others yet self-rejecting, self-neglecting
🌺Over achiever
🌺Over accomplisher
🌺All star
🌺Never feels like enough

If this sounds like her, she is not alone! Girls are under a lot of pressure from society and culture, on social media, from school, family and friends and then their own internalized drive and determination to be enough!

So…this is what my next book will be all about! I started writing and hope to be published in one year (I guess I try to be a Super Girl too)!

5 “interesting” facts you may not know about me:

🌺I just started rock climbing and I’ve found my new passion/addiction
🌺I get the most nervous (still) to sing and perform but I do it almost weekly
🌺I run 1/2 and full marathons (virtually, so I still get a medal and tshirt but there’s more scheduling flexibility
🌺I am obsessed with journaling and haven’t missed a day since 1989
🌺I love creating handouts and Ebooks and usually create something once each week

If you want your daughter to listen to you, you may want to try:
✅Being 100% present (no phones, no distractions, no tidying)
✅Ask her questions first
✅Show empathy, care, understanding about her day, her experiences, and her world
✅Encourage her by focusing on her strengths, right actions, and healthy choices
🌺Then, say what you need to say because you have helped calm and ground her, de-stress and de-activate her, and primed her to really listen to you!

🌺Girls’ confidence begins to plummet as early

🌺Girls’ confidence begins to plummet as early as age eight. If you wonder why, it’s because around this age in their development they become aware of how they compare to others - “am I as smart as she is?” and “am I pretty like her?!” And they become increasingly sensitive of what others think of them.

🩷Essentially, girls learn to be “kind of” confident but they also learn to hold back their confidence. They know exactly what they are good at, their skills and strengths, and where they shine. But they will hold back and hesitate to show what they can do beery time if it means other girls will feel less confident, less secure, and less noticed.

😊Helping girls build confidence requires a supportive and empowering approach. Here are some strategies:

✅praise effort, not just talent. Focus on hard work and progress, not just natural ability. And try hard, new, and challenging tasks.

✅encourage self-expression. Support girls in exploring their interests and passions and doing what they line to do, without caring what others think.

✅foster a growth mindset. Teach girls that mistakes are opportunities for growth and learning. Normalize mistakes!

✅model confident behaviour. Show girls what confidence looks like through your own actions and what confident language sounds like: “I can do this!”

✅provide opportunities for success. Help girls experience achievements and celebrate their accomplishments.

✅help them develop problem-solving skills. Encourage girls to think critically and develop solutions so they have the experience of working through problems and the knowledge they can then solve other problems in the future!

They can be confident! They just need our help!

Helping girls be their true selves requires a supportive and empowering approach. Here are some strategies:

❤️One, encourage authenticity. Support girls in expressing themselves genuinely.

❤️Two, foster self-acceptance. Help girls develop a positive self-image and self-love for their whole selves.

❤️Three, promote individuality. Explore and experiment with different qualities and personality traits. Celebrate her unique qualities, interests, and strengths.

❤️Four, provide a safe and non-judgmental space. Create an environment where girls feel comfortable being themselves and validate all she shows you!

❤️Five, role-model authenticity. Show girls what it means to be true to oneself.

❤️So many of my clients are worriers! They worry about everything: homework, friends, what they look like, what they say, and what other people think of them! The worries never stick!

🌟Helping girls with worry requires empathy, understanding, and effective strategies. Here are some ways to support worried girls:

✅Listen and validate. Hear their concerns and acknowledge their feelings.

✅Encourage expression. Help them put their worries into words.

✅Identify triggers. Explore what causes their worry.

✅Teach relaxation techniques. Introduce calming methods like deep breathing, visualization, or yoga.

✅Foster problem-solving skills. Encourage girls to think critically and develop solutions.

✅Promote positive self-talk. Help them reframe negative thoughts and focus on positivity.

✅Encourage physical activity. Support regular exercise to reduce anxiety.

✅Model healthy coping mechanisms. Show girls how to manage worry in a healthy way.

✅Offer reassurance. Provide comfort and reassurance without dismissing their concerns.

✅Seek professional help when needed. Hire a coach! If worries interfere with daily life, consider seeking support from a mental health professional.

My absolute favourite word for girls is: EMPOWERME

My absolute favourite word for girls is: EMPOWERMENT. I love the idea of giving them power because they often don’t even know they have power! If you are looking to give your daughter power, and to boost her confidence, here are 3 ideas:

✅help her make a choice - let her decide on dinner plans, weekend fun, or what to choose on Netflix. Girls can be agreeable but they need to know they have a voice and a choice!
✅encourage her to create change - if she doesn’t like her hair, she can change her hair; if she is bored, she can find something fun to do; if she’s outgrown her friends, she can add new people to her friend group - her decision to make change happen is her power!
✅remind her of what she IS in charge of - she can’t control a lot of life - homework, the weather, her teacher - but she can control a lot of her life - her attitude, her mindset, and what she focuses on - her choices are game changers!
